Dr. Henry Saylor-Scheetz
Hello Wolf Families,
My educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Washington State University, where I served as Chief Justice of the WSU Judicial Committee. I later earned a Master’s in Teaching from Concordia University in Portland, Oregon, followed by an administrative certification from Lewis and Clark College. In 2021, I completed my Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Grand Canyon University.
Before entering education, I spent over 20 years as a jeweler, managed operations within a Fortune 500 company, and ran my own business. My journey into education began as a football coach and high school mathematics teacher. After moving to Arizona in 2010, I joined Chandler Unified as a junior high math teacher and coach. In 2013, I stepped into leadership as Dean of Students and Athletic Director.
In 2015, I joined the Florence Unified School District as an assistant principal at Poston Butte High School. The following year, I transitioned to San Tan Heights as assistant principal and athletic director during the district consolidation. For the past five years, I’ve had the incredible honor of serving as the principal of San Tan Heights K–8. It has been a time of tremendous growth, collaboration, and shared success with our students, staff, and families.
Now, I’m thrilled to begin a new chapter as the very first principal of San Tan Mountain Middle School, one of our district’s newest campuses. I’m honored to help shape its culture from the ground up and to continue building strong, student-centered systems that foster excellence, innovation, and community.
As an educator, I believe deeply in the power of relationships to foster academic achievement. My philosophy centers on the belief that when we prioritize students and support teachers with the right tools, training, and encouragement, we create schools where children feel safe, valued, and challenged. I am passionate about building learning communities where mistakes are embraced as part of the process and critical thinking is at the heart of every classroom. This aligns closely with FUSD’s “Kids First” motto, which continues to inspire and guide my work.
I’m honored to continue serving our incredible community and look forward to what lies ahead at San Tan Mountain.
Warm regards,
Dr. Henry Saylor-Scheetz
